BUSINESS TRANSACTION CONDITIONS
Most credit card transaction condition requirements can be divided into 5 broad categories of business classifications:
Retail, Restaurant, Professional Services:
Requires card to be present, full magnetic stripe is read by a terminal, and signature is obtained. One electronic authorization request is made per transaction.
Direct Marketing, Mail/Phone/Internet:
One electronic authorization request is made per transaction. Information request message must include Address Verification Service (AVS). Transaction/Shipping date must be within 7 calendar days of authorization date.
Lodging, Car Rental, Equipment Rental:
Requires card to be present, full magnetic stripe is read by a terminal, and signature is obtained. Incremental electronic authorization requests are permitted. Anticipated stay or rental time is included in authorization. Transaction date must equal the check-out or rental return date.
Supermarket:
Requires merchant to be a registered participant in the VISA/MasterCard Supermarket program. Card needs to be present, full magnetic stripe is read by a terminal, and signature is obtained. One electronic authorization request is made per transaction.
Recurring Payment Processing:
Recurring payments require one electronic authorization request per transaction. Information request messages must include Address Verification Service (AVS).
